BIOGRAPHY

Shepherdess Ivy Butler is a native of Chicago, Illinois.  She is a member of Power In Praise Crusade Ministries where her husband of 24 years, the great late Bishop Rico Butler was the founder and pastor.  After the unexpected passing of her husband in December 2013, Shepherdess Butler accepted God’s assignment and now is the pastor of Power In Praise Crusade Ministries.  She is a devoted mother of four beautiful children:  Tequisha, Natasha (LaVonte’), Rico E., Rico A., and her miracle grandson, “My Prince,” LaVonte’ and granddaughter “My Princess,” Zariyah.  Shepherdess Butler assisted her husband in the ministry for fourteen years, and served as the First Lady of the UCOGIC Indiana Jurisdiction, Assistant Pastor and the President of the Women’s Department of Power In Praise.

Shepherdess Butler formerly served in the Fourth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Indiana North Central Women’s Department as General Assistant to the State Supervisor, Jurisdictional Women’s Convention Coordinator, and one of the instructors for the School of Licensing for Evangelist and Deaconess Missionaries, serving under the leadership of Bishop Donald L. Alford, Sr., Jurisdictional Prelate, and Mother Emma Rose Sanders, Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women.  Also, she formerly served in the First Jurisdiction of Indiana Church of God In Christ Women’s Department as one of the editors for the Women’s Convention, serving under the leadership of Bishop Milton L. Hall, Jurisdictional Prelate, and Mother Dorothy M.O. Blade, Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women.  Shepherdess Butler has been given great opportunities to serve in various capacities in the church because of her attitude of being a mentor to the young women, a daughter to the elder women, and a sister to her generation.

In 2018, Shepherdess Butler established a monthly empowerment session for women called “#L3 – LeadLearnLive.”  During these empowerment sessions, women are learning how to embrace their God-given gifts/talents through biblical principles.  These women are inspired, strengthened, and encouraged to become better servants, better mothers, better wives, and better women for their families, churches, and their communities.  Together, women are learning how to love who they are, understanding their purpose, and changing their lives.  They are women who are determined to do better, live better, and serve better.  For There Is Hope!

Shepherdess Butler along with the members of Power In Praise celebrated being selected the Best of Mishawaka Award – Community Churches for four consecutive years (2018 -2015). What an honor! The Mishawaka Award Program is an annual awards program honoring the achievements and accomplishments of local businesses throughout the Mishawaka area. Recognition is given to those companies that have shown the ability to use their best practices and implemented programs to generate competitive advantages and long-term value.

Shepherdess Butler along with her late husband is an advocate for quality education.  Because of their passion for education and biblical principles, they established a K – 12 private Christian school, New Vision Christian Academy.  She received her Bachelor Degree in Education from Indiana University, her Master Degree in Management (concentrating in leadership) at Indiana Wesleyan University preparing to complete her doctorate program.  Although her schedule is quite busy, she is a professor at IUSB teaching college students how to be effective educators and how to make a positive impact in our educational system for future success.  In addition, she taught at Ivy Tech Community College teaching incoming college students the essential skills and tools needed to be successful in college and in life.  One of her most cherished awards was being selected out of 10,000 students in the State of Indiana to receive the 2009 IUSB Excellence in Education Award, being honored at the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education – IACTE.

Although Shepherdess Butler counts it a blessing for all of the awards received, she believes there is no greater reward than to be a servant of the Lord and a mother to her children.   She works in the Spirit of Excellence, being a true Kingdom Builder.  Shepherdess Butler is thankful for the teaching instilled as a little girl by her mother, Missionary Mamie Reed, along with the saints of old, building a strong, solid spiritual foundation.  The Lord has anointed Shepherdess Butler to operate in a powerful gift of exhortation and gifted to strengthen, empower, encourage, and transform hurting and abused women, being a blessing to the Body of Christ.  To God Be The Glory!!!
